Natural stone
Marble, quartz, granite and other natural stones are popular among architects. Their delicate surfaces require not only skill, but also the right materials.
High-quality products for high-quality materials
Every piece of natural stone is unique. Working on it requires a special degree of exactitude, as visually flawless results are what count. To prevent joints and adhesive bonds turning out unappealing, the specialised sealants and adhesives used have to achieve high standards. This is the only way to deliver outstanding-looking stonework that stands the test of time.
Sealing stone by stone
Whether matte or polished, in terracotta brown or elegant anthracite, natural stone has long been in fashion in bathrooms. The reasons for this boil down to more than just the unique appearance of each individual stone – their particularly practical properties also come into play. For example, natural stone withstands fluctuating temperatures and moisture very effectively thanks to its open-pored surface. It’s also robust and abrasion-resistant, which means less wear and tear. However, when working on natural stone joints in a bathroom or lavatory, there are a few things to bear in mind. The work requires precision and know-how as well as the right materials that will not only provide a long-lasting seal but also prevent damage to the stone.
Sealants for exclusive tiled spaces
Every type of natural stone frequently appears in pool areas. However, both the stones and the sealants are exposed to high levels of stress. Chemical agents such as chlorine and cleaning products can cause porous spots and damage. Being permanently wet also affects the materials used. Particular care must be taken here to stop the edges from becoming stained and unappealing. We’ve developed our own sealants to ensure that joints remain sealed long-term in these difficult circumstances.
The right sealant for each and every natural stone worktop
Whether at home or in a top-end restaurant, natural stone worktops turn every kitchen into a unique eye-catcher. Perfect joints are needed to ensure that the slabs also hold up when chopping herbs or tenderising meat. Ramsauer has developed sealants especially for these applications that have minimal odour, comply with hygiene rules and keep the stone permanently fixed in place. A wide range of colours also helps to provide visually perfect results.
Top-class materials for specialised adhesive work
Whether it’s slate, granite, sandstone or marble, the special properties of natural stone and its unique appearance make it a popular material for floor coverings and doorways. A visible screw or hole in the stone slab would detract from its exclusive appeal. For this reason, pieces of natural stone are often bonded together with the help of special adhesives. These guarantee long-term and stable adhesion without damaging the stone. When choosing the right adhesive, along with its adhesion properties, it’s important to make sure that it doesn’t contain any plasticisers – otherwise there is a risk of the edges becoming stained.
